So Long Summer

Its that time of year again, when we jump from summer to Autumn. Lately the seasons seem to be a little confused. It worries me. When I was a little girl, summers were hot, Autumns were chilly and windy, Winter was cold and icy and Spring was wet and bright. At least I think they were, do you suppose our memories are a little confused too?

By The Autumn Sea

FAIR as the dawn of the fairest day,
Sad as the evening's tender gray,
By the latest lustre of sunset kissed,
That wavers and wanes through an amber mist,
There cometh a dream of the past to me,
On the desert sands, by the autumn sea.

Trials And Triumphs

The last few days (weeks, and months), have been a little crazy. We have changed almost every aspect of our lives, Oscar and I.

Oscar started school, my marriage ended, we re-homed the pets, re-homed ourselves, made some new friends, got a new pet (Tilly Tiger Lilly, the kitten), started a new business and then expanded and started a new new business, and then moved in to P2 at school, all in just less than a year. To say I am feeling a little over whelmed would be an understatement.

Being self employed brings a whole new set of worries, and on top of running a home as a single parent, It makes me one busy Mama. Oscar is, as always, my top priority, and since we can have a giggle and a cuddle at the end of every day, I guess we must be doing something right.

I have finally had a snippet of time to do a little knitting (and write this blog post), and its baby hat therapy. There will be little hats for sale in the new shop, but really, they are a labor of love.

And while we are on the subject of labor, I heard I am going to become a Great Aunt this weekend, (baby Noah is on his way). A Great Aunt ! Still, its almost worth it to be able to call my wee Sister 'Granny'.

Change is the only constant they say, I guess they must be right.

I wonder what the next few days (weeks, and months), have in store for us.

City Of Lights

Twinkly stars in a deep blue sky have to be my most favorite part of Gods creation in landscaping. I love the sea though and can watch the waves roll in for hours.
As far as man made landscaping, this is what floats my boat, water, sky and lights.

Work In Progress

Work is in progress in our iMake studio. We are moving to a bigger studio and shop, hopefully over the next week. The little iMake studio has been a great little starter home for us, and although we love it, its time to move on to bigger and better things.
I thought I would share a few pictures of the old space before we take it all down and move to our new premises.

The new studio and shop will be at 81 Meadowside, Dundee, and will be 'Sew Over It' and 'iMake' combined.

A Sunday

Our Sundays are pretty much the same, week after week. We get up early(ish), breakfast, shower, dress, and go to church. Oscar is becoming quite the little man in his suit and tie, and dare I say it, he actually enjoys church.

After church we take a nap (me), and play video games (Oscar), have dinner and mentally and physically prepare for the week. Today however, I decided to blow off the laundry and after putting a lovely korma in the oven to heat, we headed out to the beach.

It may not be sunny or indeed particularly warm but that is irrelevant to us hardy Scottish folks.

We found shells and played in the sand.

And one of us jumped around like crazy.

Even when the sky became dark with clouds, we played and played

Until our grumbly tummies took us home.

Scripture Sunday

1 Peter 1:24-25

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Oscar

My darling Oscar,
how patient with me you are. What a long and arduous year we have had you and I. Becoming a single parent family was really not what either of us had expected.  Things have changed so much for us. We moved house, gave your puppy a new home, started school, began the harrowing ordeal of Saturday visiting from an absent parent, opened a new business, turned 6, lost lots of teeth and got a new kitten.

We have come through it though my brave big boy, and even though our living quarters are cramped to say the least, and you have had to embark on after school care, we are muddling along somehow. I started this blog as a record of your life, and indeed a record it is.

This summer has seen you develop hay-fever and it has been a real downer for you. But on the plus side, it hasn't stopped you learning to whistle and blow huge bubbles with bubblegum.
I hope that with all my heart, you can look back at this time with some fond memories, although I know that's going to be hard.
In the mean time my darling boy, just know that you're Mama loves you, all the way to the furthest star and back. xxx
