+ Only The Lonely +

My kid has gone off to spend the night in another city with his Dad (it's the first time he has been away for the night), its crap.

Mi hijo ha ido a pasar la noche en otra ciudad con su padre (que es la primera vez que ha estado fuera por la noche), su basura.

I also touched up my hair dye, painted my nails and got a head start on Sunday dinner.

También toqué mi tinte para el cabello, pinté las uñas y nos dieron una ventaja en la cena del domingo

Tired Rambles

Lots of changes are happening but nothing entirely thrilling. A new calling at church, a new diet (as in lifestyle, not get skinny quick), a new cough and sore throat for O, a new pinterest board, a new book, a new study Bible, new medication.

Its a cold cold night and I am tucked up in bed in the dark. O and I share a room, divided by a curtain, (how very cabin in the woods right?), it is the compromise for a nice little house in a nice little area by the sea. O is breathing with little whirs and sighs, fast asleep. I have a little bed trolley on wheels, its pilled high with note books, headphones, the laptop, pens and medication, its great, it has become my little bed office.
I saw my doctor today, I need more bone tests, more fun and games.
Today was my day off. No more days off until Sunday. I am always so busy on Sundays, sometimes it doesn't feel like a Sabbath at all.
I did a mountain of laundry today, washed dried and put away (the up side of marriage abandonment = less laundry, the down side = no one to share the chores).
I made a very green soup for lunch (stock, courgettes, onions, broccoli, kale, garlic, ginger, coriander), with plenty left for tomorrow.
I keep being told that cola is very bad for bone pain/conditions, so I haven't had any for 2 days, its not been easy, I had an alcohol free beer on Saturday night instead (which quite probably eradicates any good).
I am so terribly terribly tired, I think its lack of caffeine!
I have cottage cheese with prawns on oatcakes waiting for supper. I had better eat it soon lest I be too tired to lift my hand.

I am off to walk with my women friends before supper and sleep.
Bye for now.

Some Christmas Pics 2015

Well, despite some dicky tums we managed to enjoy our Christmas time. We have had a couple of Christmas dinners, as one does at this time of year, and thankfully no more sick bowls by the bedside.
I thought I would share a random selection of pics, not too many lest your eyes glaze over.

Santa was played by our stake president and a jolly fine Santa he was !

O and I in our Christmas jim jams

Despite owning 1960s smoked glass champagne saucers, Santa gets a sip of milk in a Mormon household

1980s flashback, O asked Santa for a Rubiks cube

Turns out O was rather fearful of  the Christmas crackers this year - not the faintest idea why

we grow rather pretty ladies in this family - sister, daughter, niece

my turn to cook, loving my apron

Tartan crackers for the missionarries - which were preposterously difficult to pull

Today I am taking the little chap to see the new Star Wars movie. Naughty Mummy has seen it already with a friend (in the interest of determining its suitability you understand), and I thought it was pretty splendid. I don't expect it will be too frighting for him, you can most definitely tell that Disney has had their little stir in the mix.

I hope you are all having a jolly holiday.

Poorly House

Oops, sorry for the gap, we have all been ill for the last week or so. Oscar is sick for the 2nd time. Ah well, in lieu of a real post here are some pictures of things I have made.

knitted fairy lights

a fairy mouse

yarn for some knitted baubles

a festive cushion

a small table runner

And some other bits which are gifts so need to be shown later.

The latest round of soiled bed clothes have just finished spinning in the machine, so its time for me to sort the laundry, drink some herbal tea and possibly eat a mince pie for elevensies at 9am.
Things can only get better?

Cosy Days

My day off today. It was productive in short bursts, interspersed with down time manifesting as pain and tiredness. I saw my GP today who agreed my new medication for my bone condition is not working. Since the side effect of the medication can be stomach ulcers we made a joint decision to cease. I have to go for a round of blood test next Monday, go for some scans and then book in for injections (into the soles of my feet gulp!). To be honest, if it takes the pain away I would probably let them inject my eyeballs (probably!).

I had visitors in the afternoon and almost burned the soup destined to be my lunches for the next couple of days, but managed a miraculous save.

lentil tomato and jalapeno
I had planned on making breakfast muffins but by the time my guests left and I made dinner (stir fry vegetables, singapore noodles and tuna fish), I was too tired.

Oscar had a long bubble bath and came out over tired and grumpy. I had promised him play time so even though it was almost 9pm I had to relent and allow 10 minutes of play. But look at what play thing has caught his attention again (after a year and a half).

Oscar was bundled into bed with bible stories and buttered toast and cosy milk, and I ran a detox bath for myself of sea salt, eucalyptus and aloe vera gel. It was lovely and warm and very soothing on the limbs. I also managed to read a chapter of a book.

I have only read the first chapter which tells the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery. The story is from the woman's point of view and went as far as it could to give mitigating circumstances for this woman's behavior.
Having my husband whom I adored do this to me makes it a difficult sin to deal with. I understand however that it is not me he needs to be sorry to, it is the Lord our God. I am in no position to judge another's sin. 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone'

And on that note, its my turn for hot toast and butter and a warm drink, before I get a good and peaceful nights sleep.
