Evenings like this should help my blood pressure right?

The Cost Of Moving

e 001

We have moved house 3 times since last June, once in June, then in September and then again last week. The financial cost has undoubtedly ran into thousands of pounds and that annoys me when the money could have been much better spent.

Yesterday I had to see my GP (back in the city, I still need to register here), and I mentioned that I had been having dizzy spells on and off for quite a few weeks, and I had actually fainted whilst sitting on the floor the other day.

It has only been just over 3 months since we lost the baby, and I am well aware that at 42 I am unlikely to bounce back physically like I might have done at 22 or 32. I suppose I have 'blamed' a lot of things on the pregnancy and the end of the pregnancy. My post natal bleeding has been erratic and prolonged so we discussed my haemoglobin levels and possible testing.

I have always had low Blood Pressure (it makes me prone to dizziness) so she wasn't too concerned about my Blood Pressure, but she checked it anyway. My normal BP range is 110-115/70-75, yesterday it was 153/110.  I was fairly shocked, even though high BP runs in my family (my maternal Grandmother died at 57 from a heart attack, related to consistent HYPERTENSION).

I have been given some pills (to be slipped under my tongue to dissolve), which I should take if I feel dizzy. She told me to eat well, take plenty of walks in the fresh air and try and relax as much as possible.  I am hoping this is a temporary thing brought on by the move, and that when we test again next week it will be back to my usual low levels.

Things I Need To Know

e 006

: :  The utilities run on card meters, as discovered when the gas ran out just before lunchtime.

: :  The rain sounds louder here, there are no leaks it is safe to stop searching for puddles indoors

: : The ice-cream from the Italian Ice-Cream parlour tastes fantastic but costs the same as the train ticket into the city

: :  You should take special care of your address book when moving house especially when it has encrypted versions of your phone banking details and you need to transfer money

: :  People will want to visit because you live at the seaside, even if you are only half unpacked and you have eaten all the chocolate biscuits in a fit of stress

: : The church band (here) are just odd, (they played the Chariots Of Fire theme tune as exit music on Sunday)

: : The dazzling white walls in every room wont last so its best to enjoy them while we can (I have already sponged fingerprints off the hall walls)

: : This is a lovely house and a lovely place to live, AND we are incredibly lucky to find ourselves here.

: : If I have Oscar with me when I pop into Superdrug for a new Nail Varnish, he will cry like a teenage girl until I buy him a gold glitter pot of his own.

Casualties

e 001

I mentioned in the last post that the removals went rather badly, now we are dealing with the aftermath. So far we have found, scores on the sideboard, sofa,  and wardrobes and broken items include, my starburst clock, my antique tureen, Oscar's pirate ship, 2 picture frames, the plug on the washing machine, a glass bowl and since we have not opened all of the boxes yet, I expect that list is to be continued. Because of the way things happened on the day, we have no one to complain to about it (it's a long story). It turns out that moving house is not for the faint hearted.

On a more positive note, I am easily pleased, and hanging out my first load of laundry here this morning, really made me happy (washing machine plumbed and retractable washing line fitted).

We Are In And Out

d 003

The kettle and cups are unpacked and the internet and phone line is connected. What more do you need? After two rather stressful days (the removal man had the 'Only Fools And Horses' theme tune on his mobile, and it was rather apt), we blew it all off this morning and headed out into the morning sunshine with Oscar.
